Our work schedule breakdown.



The first step in learning how to best work together is an initial phone consultation. This introductory consultation will allow us to get to know each other and assess our fit. It will also serve as an excellent opportunity to discuss the nature of your project and answer any preliminary questions you may have about our services we offer.

We accept phone call appointments during our studio days:

  • Mondays | 12pm - 6pm PST

  • Wednesdays | 8:30am - 6pm PST

  • Fridays | 8:30am - 2pm PST

Appointments last up to 30 minutes. If over, hourly rates apply.


We schedule bookings during our meeting days:

  • Tuesdays | 8:30am - 6pm PST

  • Thursdays | 8:30am - 6pm PST

The client will need to complete our Design Questionnaire, and submit payment to secure the appointment.


During this meeting, we will learn about your vision and translate what you would like into specific projects that meet your budget. We’ll consider your master plan, look at budget and timeframes, and offer introductions to our network. Soon after, you’ll receive a detailed summary of everything we’ve covered and advice for moving forward.

We start every Motto project with a documented Design Session, but they’re also an excellent stand-alone resource for those running their own projects.

During our meeting we will cover the following:

  • Review existing interior plan

  • Discuss your expectations, scheduling, budget goals

  • Provide immediate suggestions/ideas for meeting your goals

  • Provide sources to help establish an aesthetic that is reflective of your lifestyle

  • Provide direction on paint, fabric, furniture, accessories, window treatments, and lighting

  • Provide suggestions for renovation / custom work that add value

  • Provide a follow-up meeting minutes summarizing items discussed in the meeting

If the projects are more than you can handle on your own, a working relationship is agreed upon between the client and interior designer.

To retain Motto Interior Design for further services, we will also complete the following at this time:

  • Accurate check measurement of all information provided

  • Review, photograph record existing items to be re-used for accurate furniture plan layout

  • Determine a scope of services and determine which design package best suits the clients needs; a fee proposal will later be supplied based on this information


Following the Design session, if you choose to engage Motto for design services, you will receive a detailed proposal outlining the Scope of Work, and estimated Design Fee for your project. Once signed, and a 50% deposit is received, we will begin!


During this first meeting, we will present the preliminary space plan, elevations, finishes & concept for the proposed design. Your feedback will be required, and any revisions required will be altered and send back for your final approval (via email or a secondary meeting depending on project needs).

Depending on the size of the project this phase can take between 3-6 weeks.


Once the Design has been approved, you will receive an email from Motto with an invoice for the final design payment.


Once you have settled the final design invoice, we begin working on the specification documents and construction plans. Depending on the size of the project this phase can take between 4-6 weeks.

Once the constructions plans and specification documents are ready, we will email them to you and your contractor. Any minor adjustments at this stage will be done free of charge. Any major changes to already approved designs will be charged extra. (Minor adjustments are considered to be finishes and fixtures alteration, tile layouts. Major changes are considered to be space planning, joinery layouts, millwork design )


During this phase, we will observe and report on the implementation of the project, and use reasonable efforts to keep the project on schedule, and resolve any unexpected issues that may aries. We will also commence with ordering all approved furnishing selections.


Once construction is complete, we will commence with coordinating the delivery for all furnishings. We will schedule the installation for one day (or maximum 2 depending on the projects needs), to deliver and install all furniture pieces.

The installation day: Our installer & team will place all items - removing all packaging from the site, to leave you with a completely polished space. Ideally, the client will be away for 1-2 days, allowing us access to install items during that time.

0.9 Deficiency Walk Through

Following the final installation for the project we will conduct a site walkthrough and identify any deficiencies or unresolved issues that may have come up. Will will also review any styling + decorative touches required (toss cushions, throws, vases etc) that have not yet been addressed.
